Francis Bacon Piano Co, established 230 years ago in 1789 by, among others, John Jacob Astor.

One year later, 14 years after the Declaration of Independence, the 10th president of the United States, John Tyler was born.

Fun fact: Today, in 2019, 229 years after his birth, two of John Tyler’s grandchildren (not great, not great great, not great great great) are still alive and kicking. It’s easy to wave off the past and say it’s over and done with but our past is still with us and continues to inform our present.

It is my fervent hope that the lessons of the past foster a future of opportunity, equity, and inclusiveness in our country for the next generation and beyond. Fingers crossed (and ballot in! Don’t forget to vote!)
