Going the Distance

One of the prominent parts of life as a piano technician is the travel.

There have been times when I have been able to walk to my appointments, but those service calls are few and far between. Driving is generally the name of the game (though I have even hopped on a plane for same day tuning trip) especially since I live in an exurb, even farther out than a second ring suburb, in the Portland metro area.

Sure, sometimes I get stuck in bad traffic and it’s not very much fun, but I’m lucky that to live in the Pacific Northwest where the view out my car window even in 5mph stop-and-go traffic is almost always beautiful.

And now and then, I get to a client’s house and get to enjoy this kind of incredible scenery for the entirety of the service call:

I love my job, y’all.
